Senior Data Scientist
This is an exciting opportunity to lead our Data Scientist team. You will be responsible for the modelling of complex problems, data planning, discovering insights and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualisation techniques. In addition to advanced analytic skills, this role is also proficient at integrating and preparing large, varied datasets, architecting specialised database and computing environments, and communicating results.
As our most Senior Data Scientist you will work as part of our multi-disciplinary leadership team to ensure that LovedBy’s Vision and Mission are delivered through strong collaboration with the team and our growing partner network.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and experience solving tough problems with large datasets.
Solid previous experience in solving large analytical problems using statistical, machine learning or other quantitative methods (e.g. supervised/unsupervised learning, graphical models, time series analysis, statistical testing).
Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or similar quantitative discipline.
Equally comfortable with implementing algorithms as well as performing ad-hoc analysis and deriving insights.
Solid programming skills. Expert in at least one of Scala, Python, R, C/C++, C# or Java.
Experience with Unix-based operating systems, shell programming and versioning control systems (preferably Git).
Excellent team working attitude with the ability to work proactively under own initiative in a fast paced environment.
Experience leading and growing a high performing team.
Ability to present and visualize data outputs and communicate results to non-technical audiences.
Comfortable manipulating relational data (joins, filtering, selection) and experience with database technologies
Commercial mindset and keen interest in Retail, E-commerce or the online fashion industry
The ideal candidate will also have
A PhD in a quantitative subject
A hackers mentality and comfort using open source technologies
Experience working with large datasets, cloud computing (Azure, AWS), the Hadoop ecosystem (Pig, Hive, MapReduce) and pipeline processing.
Experience with Spark, functional programming, and machine learning/data analysis software libraries (e.g. scikit-learn, pandas, numpy/scipy).
Keen interest in keeping up with state-of-the-art machine learning techniques and tools.
Willing to attend or submit papers to relevant conferences.
